Model Overview of The Dodge Charger's For Sale in Middletown, CT

2016 Dodge Charger Information

2016 Dodge Charger

The Dodge Charger is a family sedan with the heart of a muscle car, available in a range of models from powerful to outlandish. Still a heavy and fuel-thirsty vehicle, the Charger shows off its clean, modern lines, while the simple interior layout relies on premium materials. Passengers can expect satisfying space and comfort, though the back seat is snug for a car of this size.

For 2016, Charger adds a Super Track Pak for V6 models and a new Blacktop Appearance package. The 2016 Challenger SRT 392 gains additional equipment. New technical features for 2016 include Siri Eyes Free voice control, a drag-and-drop menu bar on the 8.4-inch touchscreen control interface,  a digital owners manual, and a Do Not Disturb feature. Dodge offers heritage color options, including Plum Crazy that is new for the 2016 model year. The lineup was refreshed for 2015.

Charger SE and Charger SXT models come with Chryslers Pentastar 3.6-liter V6, producing 292 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, which delivers a satisfying driving experience. V6 output on the Rallye Appearance Group rises to 300 horsepower and 264 pound-feet in an SXT, consisting of cold-air intake, engine-control software revisions, and a different exhaust setup. An 8-speed automatic is the sole transmission. We have found the V6 models to be quite responsive. Few drivers really need more, unless they simply cannot do without that familiar V8 sound and response.

In the V8 group, R/T is the starting point, with a 5.7-liter Hemi that makes 370 horsepower and 395 pound-feet.

Stepping up a sizable power notch, SRT 392 and R/T Scat Pack models unleash a 485-horsepower, 6.4-liter V8 thats a lot stronger than the 5.7 model, delivering 0-60 mph acceleration time in the mid four-second range.

Reaching from the sublime to the outrageous, the Charger SRT Hellcat contains the same 707-horsepower, supercharged 6.2-liter V8 as the Challenger SRT Hellcat, but the sedan accelerates even more quickly (0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds, says Dodge). The Hellcat and SRT 392 upgrade to huge Brembo brakes, as well as multi-mode adaptive damping.

The V6 models are fuel-responsible, but the V8s tend to guzzle, even with cylinder-deactivation on some versions. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives Charger Good ratings, its highest score, in all categories except the small front overlap crash test.

2015 Dodge Charger Information

2015 Dodge Charger

Extensively revised for 2015, Dodge Charger is Americas four-door muscle car, full of presence and in some cases fury. It looks mean but rides well, is quite practical from a room and capacity standpoint, and can be had with all-wheel drive or packing a knock-out punch.

Though trimmed and slimmed around the edges and as distinctive and threatening as always, the 2015 Charger is no lighter or smaller than the outgoing version. Almost all the exterior is new for 2015 yet recognition is still immediate, day or night. No posers here, all the scoops, ducts, vents and spoilers on the performance models are fully functional.

Charger will carry four adults comfortably and child-seat in between without effort, and theres generous trunk to bring everything with you; unlike some sedans the rear seats fold for big-screen television load space. Unless you have a very small garage Charger can cover all your family driver needs.

Entertainment options include 276-watt Alpine, 552-watt 10-speaker Beats Audio, and 900-watt 19-speaker harman/kardon sound systems. Configurable driver displays and the Uconnect infotainment system have an excellent blend of conventional and touch-screen controls.

With about 300 horsepower and an 8-speed transmission the standard V6 Charger offers brisk acceleration and 30-plus mpg road-tripping. All-wheel drive is available for better inclement weather propulsion.

The 2015 Charger lineup includes three V8 Hemi engines across five models, all with appropriately authoritative exhaust notes and generous torque. They include the torquey 370-hp 5.7-liter, the bigger-is-better 485-hp 6.4-liter Hemi and a new supercharged 6.2-liter V8 with 707 horsepower. If descriptors like lunatic fringe or mental fit you and you dont mind new rear tires at every oil change, Dodge has your four-door.

Dynamic performance is very good with a controlled ride and little body lean in corners or heavy braking. Brakes are appropriately good across a lineup in which top speeds vary by 85 mph or so. Precise, fast electric-assist steering varies effort automatically and you can choose the baseline.

Regardless of engine, Charger feels solid, substantial and well put together. Big bumps dont crash through, annoying roads dont rattle the trim and wed say the finishes match the class, but Chargers almost in a class of one.

Beyond the bodywork, interior updates and Hellcat model, the 2015 Charger now has seven airbags and a suite of safety features that can help cover-up inattentive driving, including lane departure warning, lane keeping assist and forward collision warning and mitigation braking.

Although there are a few rear-drive sedans in Chargers price range, most tend to have more luxury, less power, a higher price or all three. But Charger will be cross-shopped more with things like the Camaro, Mustang and Challenger than the likes of Cadillac CTS or Lexus GS, and a 707-hp Hellcat costs tens of thousands less than a BMW M5, Audi RS7 or Mercedes E AMG.

The only direct Charger competitors are the Chrysler 300 and the Chevrolet SS. The 300 offers similar power choices and is more formal than Charger. SS is offered only with a 415-hp V8, priced between a 485-hp Charger R/T Scat Pack and SRT392. In its favor, the SS will offer a manual transmission choice and is lighter than comparable Chargers.

2013 Dodge Charger Information

2013 Dodge Charger

Dodge Charger is an American muscle car, pumped, powerful, and full of swagger that takes you straight back to the wildly optimistic American sedans of the '60s.

At the same time, it's handsomely designed and has world-class fit and finish. From crankshaft to door handles, everything operates with fine precision and the promise of long-lasting service. Ride quality is very good, and the solid structure soaks up road surface irregularities. Yet the steering is lively and communicative, keeping you in direct touch with the road, and braking performance is exemplary. A full-size, four-door sedan, Charger is a roomy five-seat hauler.

Like any serious performance sedan, Charger is rear-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is available for winter traction. V6 and V8 engines are available.

For 2013, a new cold-air induction system and sport-tuned exhaust boot the standard 3.6-liter V6 up to 300 horsepower with certain option packages. The 292-horsepower version is still standard and, realistically, that's plenty for most drivers. The V6 Charger with 8-speed automatic delivers best-in-class fuel economy: up to 19/31 mpg City/Highway in the EPA estimate.

Even with the 370-horsepower 5.7-liter Hemi V8 and optional all-wheel drive, the Charger is a full-size family sedan with both strong performance and surprisingly thrifty EPA fuel economy, with an EPA-estimated 15/23 mpg City/Highway.

At the top end, the super-performance 2013 Charger SRT8 benefits from the addition of launch control and three driver-selectable modes for its adaptive damping suspension.

From the outside, the 2013 Charger looks a lot like an older rendering of the American sedan, but that appearance is misleading. The retro look is a self-confident exercise in sinuous American styling. The reborn Charger has been around since 2006. Model year 2011 brought a fresh new look that we like even better than the 2006-10 edition. The original Dodge Charger was launched as a 1966 model. General Lee was a '69.

The interior, however, is anything but old style. It's richly furnished with cutting-edge conveniences, advanced technology and the no-nonsense functionalism buyers demand. A first-rate, 8.4-inch touch-screen navigation system is coupled with a rearview camera and ancillary controls for climate and audio. The navigation system is sensationally intuitive, transparent, and pleasing to use, among the best we've seen. It's very easy to read and very easy to understand. Underscoring this user-friendliness, the audio controls for volume and tuning are accomplished with old-fashioned, practical radial knobs, easy to operate while driving on rough roads. And following through, each of these knobs is furnished with a nice rubber feel as you make your one-touch adjustments.

Dodge Charger is a classic combination: a full-size Detroit sedan with strong performance and unmistakable American looks, selling at an attractive price. Compared with the full-size Dodge sedan of 20 or 30 years ago, a new Charger will reward the owner with exciting styling, world-class engineering and impressive value. You no longer have to buy American because it's patriotic. With cars like this, you buy American because it's smart.
