Model Overview of The Lexus GS's For Sale in Middletown, CT

2016 Lexus GS Information

2016 Lexus GS

The 2016 Lexus GS F performance sedan and the 2016 Lexus GS 200t are new models that join the GS 350 and GS 450h. The Lexus GS models are rear-wheel-drive sports sedans, unlike the front-wheel-drive Lexus ES family sedans, that compete with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series, Audi A6, and Infiniti Q70.

The current-generation Lexus GS was introduced as a 2013 model, and it is available with a range of engines that change its character, from V6 to V8 to hybrid.

The 2016 Lexus GS 200t comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 241 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque and uses an 8-speed automatic transmission. Lexus says the GS 200t can accelerate from zero to 60 in 7.2 seconds, which isnt particularly quick. However, we found that theres a delay when you step on the gas pedal, as apparently it needs a moment for the transmission and turbocharger to decide what to do. Fortunately the 8-speed has paddle shifters, so if you flick a lower gear, that snaps the transmission out of it.

The Lexus GS 350 uses 3.5-liter V6 that makes 306 horsepower with the paddle-shifting 8-speed automatic, and feels more like a sports sedan. It can hit 60 mph in a quick 5.7 seconds, and is EPA-rated at 23 miles per gallon Combined city and highway. The GS 350 is available with all-wheel drive, which uses an older 6-speed automatic.

The Lexus GS 450h hybrid is quicker and more fuel-efficient than either the GS 200t or GS 350. With 286 horsepower and 257 pound-feet of torque, the GS 450h accelerates to 60 in 5.5 seconds, and is rated 31 mpg Combined. It doesnt feel sporty, the way the GS F does. Its main competitor might be the Acura RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD. Others include the Mercedes E-Class Bluetec or BMW 528d, diesels that get better highway mileage than the 450hs 34 mpg Highway.

Finally there is the hot one, the GS F that competes with the BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, Cadillac CTS-V, and Audi RS 7. It uses a 467-horsepower 5.0-liter V8 with 389 pound-feet of torque. With both direct injection and port injection, running on both the Otto and Atkinson cycles, it gets an EPA-rated 19 mpg Combined, pretty darn good for 467 horsepower.

2013 Lexus GS Information

2013 Lexus GS

The Lexus GS is all-new for 2013, the fourth generation of the mid-size sport-luxury sedan. The engine and transmission are updated versions of the third generation, while the majority of the 2013 Lexus GS represents wholesale change.

Debuting the next house of Lexus styling, the 2013 Lexus GS approaches with a heavily chiseled front end and a rear that blends LS460 and BMW 5 Series. Although outward appearances suggest a more formal sedan than the previous version, the low, wide interior and seating positions are more sporting than before. Apart from the exotic LFA and the high-strung IS F the GS is Lexuss most driver-oriented car. For starters, the GS uses a rear-wheel drive platform.

The 2013 Lexus GS 350 is equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 rated at 306 horsepower, more than adequate anywhere except a bragging contest or drag strip. And the substantially revised 2013 GS 450h hybrid brings 338 hp, incongruously being the quickest and most economical GS. No V8 is offered.

The Lexus GS blends responsive feel with long-distance comfort; neither edgy like a sports car nor insulated as a big luxury sedan.

All Lexus GS models are rear-wheel drive, and the GS 350 is available with all-wheel drive.

Enthusiasts will embrace the GS 350 F Sport model, which prioritizes driving dynamics. If you consider the drive half the fun of getting there the GS is your kind of car. If you consider getting back the other half, better the IS F. And if you prefer not to think about the driving at all, the Lexus ES may be a more appropriate choice.

Traditional luxuries of fine materials, quiet refinement and power accessories are complemented by the latest in electronics, communications and an operating screen larger than some laptops. Worth noting are the luxury packages front seats that compete with the best in class. and that rear seat space has grown considerably while the exterior has not.

Lexus names the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class as the primary GS competitors; both the 5 and E have rear- and all-wheel drive versions while Audis A6 3-liter is all-wheel drive only. We think the Infiniti M that offers V6, V8, hybrid and rear or all-wheel drive the most logical competitor, and would add the Cadillac CTS, Hyundai Genesis, Jaguar XF and Volvo S60 to the shopping list.
